Judith Wright has been a full-time writer since 1972. Her books have been translated into ten languages and have sold more than eight million copies worldwide. In 2006, she won the Prime Minister's Award for Literary Achievement for her adult literary fiction, the first time a female writer had been recognised. She has been a finalist in many literary awards, including the Miles Franklin Award and the Ned Kelly Awards, and she has received the AO Centenary Medal and a grant from the Australia Council for Literature
